North Carolina Concealed Carry Permit
As of October 2023, North Carolina allows individuals to carry concealed handguns provided they have obtained a permit through a process that includes a criminal background check, completion of a firearms safety course, and submission of an application to the local sheriff’s office. Applicants must be at least 21 years old, a U.S. citizen or legal resident, and have no felony convictions. Recent legislation has made it mandatory to have a valid permit to carry concealed weapons in public places. It is important for permit holders to be aware of the specific regulations and restricted areas where concealed carry is not permitted.
